I shoot a lot of weddings, yes. But I also shoot for other projects. I shoot products, interiors, food and portraits.
I am trained in lighting and my experiences with shooting different subjects opens up new perspectives which I can then use for weddings. And vice-versa is true as well. I learn a lot at the chaotic wedding environment. Which I can then re-apply to other work.
Weddings offer as a break of freshness from the expected end product. This is somewhere I can experiment and am free to create the unseen and the unexpected. Shooting still life on the other hand, gives me back the driver’s seat. I am back in control. Time then becomes a commodity in excess, which in weddings is a luxury one never gets.
Which do I prefer? Yin & Yang, both 🙂
